Cytochrome P450 2A6
This gene, CYP2A6, encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. Among the pharmaceutical that are metabolized by that enzyme is coumarine. Also nikotine is metabolized by that enzyme, so it is not surprising that genetic variants may be associated with lung cancer susceptibility.
