Osteomalacia

Osteomalacia is a bone disease with reduced bone mineral density, osteopenia. In contrast to osteoporosis, osteomalacia is characterized by low ratio of bone mineral to bone matrix. The reduced mineral content is due to defective mineralization of osteoid, which happens in adult bones.

The cause of rickets in male patients with Dent disease are disturbances in calcium-, phophate balance, and vitamin D metabolism.
