Proteostasis

Synonym(s): protein homeostasis

Proteostasis is the maintenance of a healthy proteome within a cell and its organelles and in the extracellular space. Proteostasis requires a smooth interplay of processes of protein synthesis, folding, quality control stability, trafficking, and degradation.
