Non-coding mutation

Synonym(s): non-translated mutation

We call non-coding mutation all mutations that do not change the translated part of a gene. In some papers the term non-coding is used synonymously with cryptic, but non-coding mutations may include cryptic ones along with regulatory mutations that do affect the phenotype.
