Autoimmune polyendocrinopathy syndrome 3 is disorder that segregates in families. Though linkage to several loci has been established no causal gene has been identified yet. Type 3 disease is characterised by an autoimmune thyroiditis and an other organ specific autoimmune disease which should not be autoimmune adrenal insufficiency.
